SOLUTION
Inspired by James Patterson’s Maximum Ride young adult series, Flock is made to demonstrate the fight or flight instinct through the use of letterforms. Like the winged children featured in the novels, the characters in this typeface were designed to both weigh themselves to the baseline as well as give the impression that they could float off at any moment through a mix of strokes and upward-stretching shapes. The entire typeface includes references of wing anatomy, particularly in the shape of the serifs and the tail of the Q. Flock can be used for headers or as body copy, making it as versatile as the book characters that inspired it.
