Is It Real? - Photoshop Drawings
CONCEPT
"Is It Real?" is a series of digital drawings that play upon the stereotypical view of Photoshop as a tool to create fake imagery and use that stigma to bring attention to how we perceive reality. Since the extent to which we can relate to emotions is limited by the verbal or physical expressions of the person feeling them, I did several emotional portraits that imply emotion through the face. In addition to that, illusionary textures and features of real world elements have been added as compliments to that sensation. When mixed with color psychology, the images create a web of experiences that viewers can connect with. When they are considered in the context of a digital age that is constantly being fed with fake and edited imagery, both through advertising and through social media, the portraits take on the darker impression of a world where it is just as easy to relate to something fake as it is to something real without ever knowing the difference.
